About the Space

The First Congregational Church is a stunning Venetian Gothic–style landmark located in downtown Portland at 1126 SW Park Avenue. Completed in 1895, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and stands as one of Portland’s finest examples of late-19th-century craftsmanship and design. Architecture & Design Designed by architect Henry J. Hefty, the church features: A striking 175-foot bell tower visible across the downtown skyline. Ornate brick and sandstone facades with arched windows and intricate detailing. A breathtaking interior featuring hand-painted murals, stained glass from Povey Brothers Glass Company, and carved wooden pews and wainscoting. A large sanctuary with soaring ceilings, exceptional acoustics, and seating for roughly 680 guests, making it ideal for concerts, weddings, and lectures. Building Amenities: -Sanctuary Room- the rounded design makes it an intimate setting from small groups to as many as 6870 guests. -Reception Hall - Tables and chairs are provided free of charge, and can be arranged to your needs in advance of your rental. -Kitchen- A full, up-to-code commercial kitchen is available. Three ovens, two dishwashers, flat top grill, four burners, two section reach in refrigerator, reach in freezer, and ample counter space. -Numerous multiuse rooms available for private and group dressing rooms. -In-House sound system available. -Portland's iconic Park Blocks sit at the church's doorstep and make a perfect backdrop for wedding photos.
