About the Space
The Rock House is a phenomenal property in the forest: a large stone house surrounded by ancient Alligator Juniper trees, situated with an open view of the Ortiz Mountains and South Mountain to the east. It was built for an opera singer around 1920, the loft she used to sing from remains. Reminiscent of an old national park visitor center or lodge, the Rock House is an ideal spot for events. It was named by UNM students who used to sneak in and party in the 40’s and 50s. There are 3 bathrooms, five bedrooms and a large dining room with an open kitchen. The center of the house has a vast room with 18’ high ceilings and two massive arched windows that allow you to see through the house to the mountains beyond. The big room shares the view of the mountains with a 1000 sq. ft. deck just outside it. The house is surrounded by 2 1/2 acres of forest land.
