About the Space
Although located in a residential home, the space is basement speakeasy. It’s what one would have experienced in Detroit from 1930 to 1950. Most of the items shown, including the bar, are from the period. There are no televisions, modern signage or a modern cash register. The bar is one of the few deco bars left in existence. The space is very quiet. There is sounding proofing in the walls. It's difficult to get the level of quiet necessary to shoot dialog in your local bar. Even in off hours, you're going to have to deal with the noise of cleaning crews, people setting up for the next day, A/C, refrigeration units, traffic from outside ect. You won't experience any of these noises here. This speakeasy is the next best thing to a true soundstage.
