Ranch-Style Retreat with Retro and Bohemian Feel

About the Space

Welcome to FIRE SWAMP RANCH! We're a film-friendly couple opening up our large and amazing ranch-style home to respectable, conscious productions with insurance. Our 3,250 square foot home has a retro-feel with Bohemian influences, but can easily be transformed to any genre or style. Built in 1929, our home was the Hollywood retreat for actress Maxine Gates, who worked with the Three Stooges in the 1940s. We still have her original stone wall and alligator pond. This house is one-of-a-kind! It is tucked behind the Burbank mountains. We are 10 minutes to Burbank, 5 minutes to Tujunga/Sunland, 20 min to DTLA, 35min to Hollywood. Inside, we have lots of natural light through our 36 windows. Our sound-proofed windows cut out outside sounds and traffic noise. The house is 100% powered by solar for those green-conscious productions. We have 2 separate breaker boxes and electrical outlets throughout the yard for all of your equipment. The interior has a open floor plan that can easily accommodate multiple standing sets, lights, and all your crew. Multiple looks are possible within the same space including 2 different vintage dining booths, 3 large bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a large kitchen, extremely spacious living room/dining area, and super rad 1930s-style red fireplace mantel. We have 3 full bathrooms (1 tub, 2 showers), + bonus 1/2 bath, so no need for honey wagons or porta potties. Our den can double as a greenroom, hair + M/U, and has an adjacent bathroom. Our exterior lot is about 4,000 square feet. There are multiple gated areas. It features a huge hot tub, turtle pond, ranch-style porch, and BBQ pergola that can double as video village or crafty. We have a side yard (approx 600 sq ft) that also can be dressed. Our yard features an extensive goat enclosure built courtesy of Animal Planet, ducks with separate coop and run, turtle pond, and numerous indoor animals. All animals will be put away during filming and won't interrupt your shoot, but they will be there for moral support if needed! If you need animal actors in your film, we have 4 goats and a dog that are all trained for performance on camera. Animal actors will require an additional fee. We have 4 parking spots for cars on our property. Garage can double as crafty or video village rather than parking if needed. Additional crew and truck parking/basecamp can be rented from Villa Serena located 0.2miles up the road from us. They have spots for 30+cars. Must use layout board or mats to protect floors, corners, etc. Production insurance is required. We require a site rep during shooting if we're not able to be on location. We are 420-friendly.
