Modernized farmhouse in the Dolomites

About the Space

A mountain farmhouse nearby Villandro Alp. At an altitude of 1,200 m a.s.l., it has a beautiful view of the Dolomites. Within, the high level of comfort is carefully designed, down to the smallest details, in a style blending urban chic with traditional Alpine. The farmhouse can be booked in its entirety and/or with many extra spaces and services. The building complex, protected as an historical and artistic asset, consists of a farmhouse and a hay barn. Some elements of the house are over 500 years old, while the hay barn features a thatched roof, a rare architectural element in these parts. In fact, South Tyrol boasts only five of these overall. After buying the farm, Tom Erlacher lived in the farmhouse for almost ten years without electricity or central heating. In 2015 he engaged the architectural firm Mikolajcak Architects to build a new house at the rear of the property, most of it underground. In 2021 the farmhouse, what is now the Felder Alpin Lodge, was renovated by the architectural firm Perathoner from Selva di Val Gardena. INTERIORS Tom Erlacher is a connoisseur of local building materials and crafts but is also an enthusiastic world traveller. So, as the home owner of this 'maso' he wanted to play a key role in the restoration of the Lodge, wishing to create a unique mountain hut full of pleasing contrasts where tradition and modernity tastefully merge into an absolutely original ambiance. Antique rural furniture pieces mingle with artefacts from Bali, while Italian designer lamps create pools of light on the vaulted ceiling. Classical style elements comfortably share room with uncommon details, while the powerfully thick stone walls alternate with glass and wood. Materials and colours, structures and shapes transform and blend into dynamic spaces made to be enjoyed and ready to welcome you into their comfortable and stimulating atmosphere.
