About the Space

The house is a classic California ranch bungalow built in 1941 and features an award-winning garden. The back yard has a large, retro swimming pool that was built by the original owner who happened to be the understudy for the famous Olympic swimmer and actress, Esther Williams. My wife is an award-winning landscape designer and the gardens always look spectacular. Mature trees ring the garden giving it a sense of complete privacy. Some of the more prominent features include a shaded stone bench, fire pit, outdoor kitchen and dining, fountain, and a gorgeous wooden arbor with grapevines. The front yard contains a rain garden creek bed and vegetable gardens. The inside of the house is charming. It still has much of the original details such as coved ceilings, tongue-in-groove wood paneling, and double-sided fireplaces. Indoor furnishings range from mid-century modern to transitional creating a cozy and eclectic environment. The compound also houses a contemporary two-story office and studio at the rear end of the property. The studio looks out directly on the pool and fountain. It also functions as an ideal make-up or changing room. Please note that a default cleaning fee is listed. That fee may increase or decrease relative to the number of people using the property.
