Stunning former hunting lodge on Maine lake

About the Space

Camp is a beautiful former hunting lodge on the banks of Clearwater Lake. Built in 1906 and nestled in 50 acres of private woodland in the rolling hills of northwest Maine, the Camp provides the perfect rustic setting for family holidays, relaxing getaways, foliage tours and winter activities. The house is large and tastefully decorated. Over the years, the Camp’s owners have lovingly filled their home with art and artefacts from their travels. Etchings from Afghanistan nestle alongside statues from Zimbabwe. Tribal Tunisian masks look out onto the Colombian hammock. The old local way of living is also present; snowshoes hang on walls alongside colourful drawings of rural Maine life. Audubon bird prints adorn the walls. Hats from around the world decorate the hallway, and extracts from an old children’s guide to trapping adorn the bunk room. Camp Liberty sits on the west shore of Clearwater Lake, in Franklin County, north-west Maine. Close to the Canadian border, the Appalachian Trail and Sugarloaf ski resort, the second largest ski destination east of the Mississippi, this is rural Maine at its best. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO INTERNET PROVIDED. Phone signal is unreliable for many networks (signal is best acquired on the lakeside porch or close to the lake with US cellular). If you have need of connectivity we recommend you bring a dongle and hotspot. There are free Internet cafes in town.
