The motor transport hall was built in 1960 and provided a roof for the trucks of the VEB Kraftverkehr Karl-Marx-Stadt. The unique roof construction is a listed building in terms of architecture and construction. Last but not least, the hall was the largest self-supporting hall in the GDR. Entrepreneur Andreas Wöllenstein took over the area many years ago, so that the hall served as a van and truck workshop.
After the relocation of the truck workshop and the new construction of the transporter workshop, the first plans were made to convert it into a congress and event hall. Under the direction of Andreas Wöllenstein, motor transport was extensively renovated in 2017 without losing any of its special industrial charm. The newly created Chemnitz culture and congress center offers a unique event location for creative and classic event concepts.

Die Kraftverkehrshalle wurde 1960 erbaut und diente als Überdachung für die Lkw des VEB Kraftverkehr Karl-Marx-Stadt. Die einzigartige Dachkonstruktion steht architektonisch und bautechnisch unter Denkmalschutz. Nicht zuletzt war die Halle die größte freitragende Halle der DDR. Der Unternehmer Andreas Wöllenstein übernahm das Areal vor vielen Jahren, so dass die Halle als Transporter- und LKW-Werkstatt diente.
Nach dem Umzug der Lkw-Werkstatt und dem Neubau der Transporterwerkstatt gab es erste Planungen, die Halle zu einer Kongress- und Veranstaltungshalle umzubauen. Unter der Leitung von Andreas Wöllenstein wurde der Autoverkehr 2017 umfassend saniert, ohne dabei seinen besonderen Industriecharme zu verlieren. Das neu entstandene Chemnitzer Kultur- und Kongresszentrum bietet eine einzigartige Eventlocation für kreative und klassische Veranstaltungskonzepte.
