About the Space

Welcome to our stunning industrial studio! Centrally located in Marin County (~18 miles north of San Francisco), it is a versatile space that is fully equipped for photography and video (except long-form audio - see “sound” below). Grip Gear: Included for use are 8 C-stands, 2 combo stands, 1 9-ft Cambo UST stand, 1 Manfrotto boom arm stand, 2 floppy flags, 8 apple boxes, 2 6x6 (ultra bounce & silk), 1 12-ft rolling scaffolding, and sandbags. Also available are 3 backdrop stands and blue, gray, and white paper backdrops. Lighting Gear (Add-On): Available at an additional cost is our Aputure lighting package that includes 1 600D, 1 Nova P300c, 2 300Ds, 2 60Ds, 2 Amaran 60Ds, and 2 Light Domes. History: We started out as a warehouse. About a decade ago, the space was converted into a photography and video studio, and has been used for this purpose ever since. Setting: We're part of a warehouse complex with other businesses in various industries. There is a large shared parking lot with reserved spots for each unit. Location: We're in a very central location, just blocks from the Highway 101 exit. Within 1-3 blocks are shops including Sprouts, Safeway, Staples, Starbucks, Subway, Best Buy, and Jackson's Hardware. San Rafael's vibrant downtown/4th Street is blocks away featuring several restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. Loading: We're on ground level, with a garage door and loading area available. Layout: The set space features polished concrete flooring, 15 ft-high ceilings, an open area of ~500 sq ft, and a conference table that seats 8 people. In the back, you'll find a common area of ~200 sq ft that includes the kitchen, dressing room, and restroom. Green Room (Add-On): Available at an additional cost is our lounge green room upstairs. Totaling ~300 sq ft, it features a couch, TV (with Apple TV), and sound system. It overlooks the set space and has curtains for privacy. Kitchen: The kitchen is equipped with a sink, fridge, coffee machine, hot water boiler for tea, dinnerware, utensils, a counter, and a high table that seats 4 people. Dressing Room: The dressing room is attached to the bathroom and includes a mirror and curtains for privacy. Temperature Control: Unfortunately, we don't have central heating. We have space heaters available and even with them on, the space still runs cold, so bring layers to stay warm. Lighting: The only windows are 2 skylights: one in the main space and another in the lounge area. Both can be closed to block natural light. Sound: The space is not soundproof. Prepare for the interference of street noise, and occasionally, industrial noise from our neighbors. Not ideal for long-form audio, but we’re happy to advise on quiet hours.
