About the Space
Referred to as “La Ronda”, this historic 1920’s property is an exceptional example of the Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and is on the National Register of Historic Places. You can catch a glimpse of it in the 1974 movie, Chinatown. The cottage that is available for rent is 650 sq. ft. The interior is very high end and is done in true Hollywood Glamour style. The finishings (curtains, rugs, chairs, etc.) are rich in jeweled toned french-silk velvets custom made from Clarence House fabrics. The space is finished with vintage pieces; an Italian armoire from the 1700’s, cocktail tables, nesting tables, lamps, etc. Directly outside of the cottage is a cobblestone courtyard which serves as a direct passageway to other units that sit on the property. You would only have permission to shoot within the perimeters of the cottage Kitchen: The kitchen is equipped with an original O’Keefe and Merritt vintage stove. The counter tops are tiled and the cabinets are white wood. A swinging door separates the living space from the kitchen. This is a beautiful original wooden door with ornaments on it. Living area: There is a wood burning fireplace in the living space. It is concrete and brick with original Spanish tile that trims the top. The door that separates the living space from the bedroom is a beautiful arched door that is composed of hand crafted wooden dowels. Bedroom: The bed was custom made to fit the bedroom nook and is almost a queen. In the bedroom are two small windows looking into the courtyard. They use a crank to open. Bathroom: From the bedroom to bathroom is a very small hallway, again finished with a vintage chest of drawers. The yellow bathtub is deep and the tiles surrounding the tub are also yellow.
