This Unique Museum in Benicia, California was constructed of sandstone quarried on the grounds of the Benicia Arsenal, constructed in 1857. The vaulted ceiling and modified Corinthian pillars were hand-carved from native sandstone & placed by French, Italian, and Irish craftsmen contracted by the United States Government. The walls are four-foot thick solid sandstone.
