About the Space

The Museum was built in 1909 for the Sales Manager of Fraser Mills, Henry Mackin. Having stood for over a century, it's remnant of the historic French community of Maillardville, the largest French settlement in Western Canada, and of the influx of early immigration by Fraser Mills laborers. Today, we host exhibits, events, and tours dedicated to showcasing the multifaceted history and culture of the city of Coquitlam. Enjoy your next celebration, photo-shoot or company function in a 1909 Edwardian-era heritage home! Reflective of the time period, our interior is decorated with period-specific furniture and wallpaper, with exhibits located on the upper floor. The space is unlike many others, and offers a unique, homey atmosphere - transporting guests a century back. Our facilities also include: - Working Fireplace (Gas Operated - No need for firewood) - Open Concept Living and Dining Areas - Separated by large glass doors for privacy - Museum-wide Sound System - Functional Kitchen with our Refurbished Edwardian Stove (functions like a modern stove), Utensils, & Fridge - Multiple Seating & Dining Areas - Free WIFI - Limited Free Parking Whether you’re looking for an educational group activity, a day out with friends, or an intimate birthday party, we have options for you. In addition to space rentals, we also offer different interactive, historic activities that can be added to your booking including: - Private Tours - Neighborhood Walking Tours - Afternoon Tea & Scones in our Historic Dining Room - Butter Churning If you're interested in booking, send us a message sharing a brief description of your production or event, including details about intended dates and times, catering, guest count, equipment needs, etc., and we'll get back to you shortly with next steps!
