The Venue is a historic building in the South Loop of Chicago. It features original brick walls and our recent renovation was designed by Gensler Design.
Overflow features high ceilings with exposed beams and brick. The design is inspired by the rich history of our building which was once owned by VeeJay Records, at one point the largest Black-owned record label in the world. The space is perfect for music nights, art shows, networking events, and book signings. The event space can fit up to 80 people.
Mox.E Coworking, on the 2nd floor, features an event space for up to 70 people, depending on the configuration of the event. There are more business-related amenities in this space, so if your event needs TV projection screens, video conferencing technology, or meeting space options, this area would work well for you. Mox.E is perfect for workshops, conferences, networking, fundraising functions, and board meetings.
Our feature conference room overlooks Michigan Avenue and has floor-to-ceiling glass walls (front and street level) with 15 foot ceilings. The table is custom-made and hand carved by Chicago Fire Furniture, and Black-owned custom wood shop. Their custom woodwork is also featured in our coffee shop.
In addition, the building has 2 kitchens, an elevator, small private offices and meeting rooms, and a Mother's Room.
