About the Space

Nestled on the Niagara Escarpment between Queenston and St. Davids, this one-of-a-kind property has been a creative landmark in Niagara-on-the-Lake wine country since 1978. Every structure, home, pottery gallery, studio, metal shop, wood shop, and gardens, was built by hand by Czech-born artists Eva and Frank Mlcak after emigrating from Czechoslovakia. THE LAYOUT The property steps down the escarpment across five distinct levels, gardens and stone staircases tracing one side, the driveway winding along the other. THE GALLERY The two-level pottery gallery is attached to the home and is the heart of the property. Warm wood finishes, track lighting, open shelving, and curated ceramic work make it a compelling space for editorial and lifestyle photography, product shoots, events, and gallery-style activations. It opens to the gardens and driveway, naturally suited for shoots flowing between indoor and outdoor settings. Includes a half bath on the lower level. THE HOME The main floor features an open-concept kitchen, living, and dining area with strong mid-century character: wood-paneled ceilings, clean lines, a statement fireplace, and large windows framing the gardens. A primary suite with private closet and en suite bath, plus a second bedroom or office, round out the main level. The walkout lower level adds two more bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a second living room with fireplace, opening directly to the lower grounds, ideal for productions needing multiple distinct spaces or a crew holding area. THE WORKING STUDIOS The pottery studio is a fully functioning space with wheels, jiggers, shelving, and a custom-built reduction kiln fired at over 1300°C, honest and working, in constant creative use for nearly five decades, an ideal backdrop for brand campaigns and documentary-style content, or any shoot seeking authenticity over artifice. A metal shop and wood shop round out the property, both active spaces with an industrial, raw aesthetic. THE GARDENS AND GROUNDS Terraced gardens are lush and layered, with stone staircases, mature trees, and flowering plantings winding down the hillside between structures. Sweeping views open onto farmland and the surrounding countryside — pastoral, quiet, genuinely beautiful. The back field/end of property accommodate 15+ vehicles for larger productions.
