About the Space

Cinematic Black Box Studio + 17K SQ FT Warehouse Sanctuary, a nonprofit arts campus in Louisville's Portland neighborhood offering two distinctive shoot locations across two buildings — an intimate black-box style studio and a sprawling raw warehouse. Home to working artists, theatre productions, galleries, and our resident variety show, our campus brings a creative, production-friendly energy you won't find in a standard rental space. Every booking directly supports our mission of providing studio space, programming, and opportunities for local artists. Our studio space, located on the ground floor of our first building, is approximately 3,000 square feet of moody, cinematic charm with black brick walls, exposed truss ceilings, gold-accented double doors, and a raised stage. Rolling full-length mirrors, theatrical set pieces, and an all-black backdrop throughout make it ideal for portrait sessions, fashion shoots, music videos, interviews, and narrative film work. In our second building, our warehouse offers approximately 17,000 square feet of raw industrial character with soaring ceilings, exposed steel trusses, dramatic black walls, and a wide-open concrete footprint. It's a true blank canvas for large-scale productions. The space is actively being built out into a full event venue, so its look will keep evolving so check back for updated photos. Both locations include free on-site parking, and restrooms Tables and chairs are available, and a sound system and stage lighting can be added. Setup and use of these are available for an additional fee, so just let us know what your production needs. At this time we host film and photo productions only — weddings and private events are coming soon as our build-out progresses. Our team produces shows year-round ourselves, so we speak production fluently and love helping crews get the shot.
