About the Space

Built in 1922, this heritage landmark in the heart of Mount Pleasant is one of Vancouver’s most iconic cultural venues. With its historic charm and wood-paneled rooms, the space offers a striking and versatile backdrop for photo shoots, film productions, and meetings. The building’s three-storey, light green wooden façade sets the tone for a unique interior. At the heart of the venue, the 1,250 sq ft hall impresses with soaring 14 ft ceilings, vintage built-in folding chairs, wool carpet with a removable section for a 13 x 20 ft hardwood stage, AV screen and backdrop, and excellent acoustics. This hall is perfect for filming and audio recording, with a grand piano, AV equipment, and theatre lighting system available as an add-on to support your production. At the entrance to the hall, a 10 × 13 ft foyer is available for equipment storage or other production needs. You can also add the adjoining 14 × 21 ft Library to your rental, which works perfectly as an additional filming location, breakout space, green room, or for hair and makeup and production prep. The Library can be used empty or set with a boardroom table for meetings. Additional practical features include 75 black chairs and 10 trestle tables available for use, as well as a double loading bay at the entrance (with parking suspension permits available through the City) and convenient street parking nearby. Availability is subject to the venue’s artistic programming and staff scheduling, and rates vary depending on project needs. Discounted rates may be available for artists, non-profits, and community groups. Public events and general audience presentations cannot be accommodated. While the hall is relatively quiet, there can occasionally be ambient noise from elsewhere in the venue. Productions requiring audio recording should notify us in advance so we can help ensure the best possible conditions.
