Built in 1920, this 102-year old house is Private off street parking.
3-bedroom 2.5-bathroom home with over 2,400 sq feet of space. Large bedrooms with queen sized beds and seating, 2 clawfoot style tubs, extra large cedar closets, three seating areas, a piano, a large dining room, an eat in kitchen, and a closet with family games. Comes complete with the quirks many of us have come to love of old houses and, of course, the place always has something that can be repaired or updated. It's an ongoing process and this house is our first love!
Kids and adults love our two porches, especially sitting on our front porch swing, watching the world go by.
We also own the spacious grassy lot behind the house.
*We are located less than 1.5 miles to Fondren, downtown, walking distance to Baptist, University, Blair E. Batson, Wiser, and Veterans hospitals, and also Millsap's and Belhaven Universities, and less than 2 miles from the State Capital.
Some history on the house:
When we lived there, we were lucky enough to have been visited by several previous owners, spanning from WWII to 1990. In the South we like to pass down oral history and this is a case of just that. :)
Built in 1920, this 102-year old single family home was once temporarily converted into apartments, with a shared kitchen and receiving room, during WWII and then reconverted back into a single family home when the housing crisis was over. The house next door, on the corner of the street, was once the mayoral home for the city of Jackson.
Since, a small half-bath has been added between a guest bedroom and the TV room. Cedar closets were also added into two bedrooms.
A spacious laundry room has been enclosed adjacent to a bedroom by taking in half of the back porch off the kitchen. The laundry room had previously been in the utility maintenance closet on the current screened in back porch.
The Jack and Jill bathroom has been remodeled and enclosed. There once was a door to the backyard where there is now a stained glass window in the bathroom.
The TV room also once had a permanent staircase leading to the attic, which was removed around 2009. Now the only staircase leading to the attic is in the kitchen behind a locked door. It has a tight, walk-up staircase that enters into a spacious mostly floored attic space and a creepy old, rundown, office space above the front porch.
*All of the plumbing in the house was updated in 2016
