About the Space
In 2004, Bella Krieger discovered a derelict heritage building tucked away on a small side street, a little off the beaten path of downtown Guelph. She envisioned there the a cozy cafe – a place of warmth and charm that would draw in a diverse variety of people, a place where local art could hang on the walls and local musicians would shape the atmosphere with rich acoustic sounds. Bella was envisioning a place to host community events, a meeting place, a quiet work space, and a place to be inspired. Over the last 16 years, thousands of customers have passed through the café’s doors, and over 100 local artists have been featured on the café’s walls. The café’s modest stage has lit up the whole building with the sound of local musicians, and the café has been home to countless community events. The Cafe has always done its part to support the Guelph community at large, regularly sponsoring events like Kazoo Fest, the Comedy Festival, Jazz Fest, Film Fest, and the Guelph Music Festival. The Cafe has also hosted countless private events, such as theatre groups, musicians, and has even been used as a set for the popular TV show, "Murdoch Mysteries"! It is a hot spot for photographers, having hosted a number of photo shoots including wedding and engagement shoots, business shoots and more! What's Included? Cafe Space: Full run of cafe (front room, back room, and patio), with an overall capacity of 60. More than 40 guests requires the use of both rooms. This is suitable for cocktail or mingle style, or markets, not for seated events. (Back room: 50 standing, 40 seated) Food/Drink: We are fully licensed - although no outside alcohol is permitted we do allow outside food and catering. We also offer our Events Menu at every event (includes: beer and wine, cocktails, coffee, tea and snacks). Staff: We will provide 1-3 of our wonderful staff to run our counter and serve your attendees! Music/PA: Access to PA system, 8-channel bluetooth mixer & mic. Promotion (For Public Events): We will share any posters, links or images on our social media platforms to help promote your event! Clean up: Don’t get stuck cleaning up after your event - we will do it for you! We take great pride in our cafe and would be so happy to share it with you!!
