About the Space
Set on a hillside along one of Newburgh’s most scenic historic streets, this light-filled 1850 Victorian offers sweeping Hudson River and mountain views, layered interiors, and multiple distinct filming environments across four levels. With abundant natural light across all levels and unobstructed sightlines to the water, the home provides a dynamic and visually rich backdrop for film, television, and photo productions. The Hudson River and Mount Beacon views are a defining feature of the property, offering a constantly shifting natural backdrop. From ice-covered winter scenes to passing cargo ships and boats, dramatic weather changes, and vibrant sunrises, the landscape provides a range of cinematic conditions throughout the day and across seasons. Along the river below, a freight rail line runs at the base of the hill, with occasional train movement and sound that can add visual and atmospheric interest. Across the river, distant Metro-North Railroad commuter trains are visible at times, contributing a more subtle, far-off ambient layer. The main level features high ceilings, original millwork, and a bright living area that opens visually toward the river. A contemporary kitchen with clean lines contrasts with the home’s historic texture, making it adaptable for both period and modern scenes. Large windows throughout capture changing light from morning through sunset, ideal for natural-light shoots. Upstairs, two bedrooms offer clean, minimal spaces with continued river views, while additional rooms throughout the home provide flexible staging areas for wardrobe, makeup, or equipment. The house’s vertical layout—spanning four stories and connected by multiple staircases—creates opportunities for varied camera angles, depth, and movement between levels, while also allowing separation between production and staging areas. Below the main floor, a cellar level adds a contrasting environment with more raw, utilitarian character—well suited for storage and basement scenes. At the top of the house, a spacious attic level with an open layout offers a highly adaptable environment for creative direction, set builds, or production support. Exterior spaces further expand production possibilities. A large private deck overlooks the Hudson River and Mount Beacon, providing expansive scenic backdrops, while the backyard offers additional outdoor staging and flexibility. The property sits on a quiet, tree-lined street within New York State’s largest historic district, offering a controlled setting with minimal ambient noise. A small side driveway accommodates up to two vehicles, with additional easy street parking available for larger production vehicles (coordination may be required through local permitting). Located minutes from Newburgh’s waterfront and within easy reach of the Metro-North Railroad, the home is accessible while maintaining a sense of seclusion. Ideal for permitted film, television, commercial, and editorial shoots. Best suited for small to mid-size crews. Production use only; no events or parties. The request must include all necessary prep and wrap time in addition to production. If you're interested in dates that are currently noted as unavailable, please reach out!
