About the Space
Bordello 1923 is a Parisian-inspired bohemian artist apartment set within a historic DTLA Beaux Arts building, designed as a fully realized cinematic environment for fashion, portrait, and film production. Soaring ceilings, sculptural furnishings, and shifting natural light combine to create a space that feels instantly composed on camera—transportive, editorial, and intentionally designed for image-making from the moment you enter. An authentic Art Deco rug anchors the main space, while a silk Victorian sofa, a Chinoiserie changing screen and swivel tulip chairs create strong, readable silhouettes. Warehouse-style chicken-wire windows can be opened or closed, revealing gritty views of a graffitied parking structure while delivering textured, muted daylight ideal for natural-light shoots and atmospheric variation. The original commercial proportions and high ceilings support wide compositions, movement, and cinematic blocking with ease. The entryway functions as a built-in styling set, with rich high gloss paint to create reflective depth. A Rococo gilded mirror expands light and space on camera, while sculptural accents—including a signature tulip lamp, designer candlesticks, barware, and a curated art collection—create intentional, ready-made vignettes throughout the frame. The contrast between modern design elements and Old Hollywood deco detailing gives the space a flexible visual language, allowing it to shift seamlessly between timeless editorial, narrative storytelling, and contemporary luxury aesthetics depending on how it is shot. The bedroom offers an especially compelling setting for portrait and fashion work, featuring framed views of the historic Eastern Columbia Building behind a gold crushed velvet curtain, while the headboard—a repurposed storm window sourced from Rockefeller Center in New York—adds architectural character and narrative depth to close-up compositions and lifestyle imagery. Bordello 1923 is designed for creatives who think in images, not just locations. It photographs with clarity, richness, and intention—whether for fashion editorials, portfolio building, test shoots, brand campaigns, or cinematic storytelling. Please note the current sofa is the green silk with floral pattern - the burgundy sofa is no longer with us. LOAD-IN & LOAD-OUT Your reservation time includes all time spent accessing and using the building and studio, including load-in, setup, shooting, breakdown, and load-out. Crews may not begin loading equipment into the building before the start of their reservation or remain in the building after the reservation ends unless additional time has been arranged. If your production requires additional time for equipment load-in or load-out, please include that time when making your booking. Example: If your shoot requires 30 minutes to load in and 30 minutes to load out, we recommend adding one hour to your reservation so that your booked time accommodates the entire production. Early arrival does not guarantee early access to the studio or building. If the guard alerts us you have stayed past your booking time you may be charged for that time. CLEANING: A $50 fee is included with every booking and covers standard post-production cleaning such as vacuuming, light dusting, and glass polishing, and furniture re-arrangement. Guests are expected to leave the studio in substantially the condition in which they found it. Excessive mess, spills, wax, glitter/confetti, food debris, or cleaning re

Bridget was a phenomenal host! She went above and beyond by giving me a complete tour of the space before booking, which made the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. Throughout the entire process, she was kind, courteous, professional, and communicated effectively. The art deco design of the space is absolutely stunning and served as the perfect backdrop for my boudoir shoot. The environment was clean, private, and beautifully curated. I highly recommend booking with Bridget and I would definitely book with her again soon!

I have been at one of the other After Hours Vintage studio locations and had an amazing experience, so I already knew that this space would also be great to shoot at! Our host, Bridget, was incredibly communicative and made sure we had everything we needed ahead of time. The space is super pretty and has so much variety of looks. I specially really loved the fire escape which was so fun to shoot at and the natural lighting in the evening outdoors was stunning. I also really loved the livingroom setup! The glossy finish of the wall paint was so pretty in the photos and the color choices were 10/10. I am super happy with how the photos came out. Great spot, would definitely be back and absolutely recommend you book a shoot at all of the After Hours Vintage locations!
