About the Space
The perfect location for any film, television, commercial, music video, or content production requiring an authentic laboratory or science scene. This is a real working laboratory in central Vancouver, equipped with genuine scientific glassware, instruments, workbenches, burners, tubing, laboratory equipment, and the visual detail that is difficult to reproduce convincingly on a conventional set. What makes this location especially unusual is that two professional scientists are available on site. If your script calls for a chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical-research, experimental, inventor, or “mad scientist” scene, we can help create a setup that looks like something a real scientist would actually build. Tell us what your character is supposed to be doing and we can help arrange appropriate apparatus, glassware, tubing, vessels, instruments, samples, calculations, and other scientific details so the scene looks authentic on camera. The laboratory can be configured as anything from a clean modern research environment to a dense experimental workspace filled with interconnected scientific apparatus. Ideal for film and television, commercials, music videos, photography, documentaries, educational productions, pharmaceutical or biotechnology scenes, and productions requiring scientific or technical authenticity. Scientific consulting and custom scene preparation are also available. If your production has a science or laboratory scene, this is the location you have been looking for. Note: For your safety and protection, please keep all communication on Giggster.

I’ve known Gordon for over nine years, and I believe he is the world’s most underrated scientist. I’m grateful for the opportunity to use his space to engage with an authentic community at scientific events. I’ve been commissioned to make a documentary about some of the world’s most beautiful mosques and the history that surrounds them. The project will bring together architecture, Islamic scholarship and chemistry. I’m especially interested in exploring Islamic alchemy and the practical chemistry of traditional leather tanning. I’ve also made a few suggestions for improving the lab so it can better support the research and practical demonstrations needed to complete the documentary. One of the places I plan to feature is the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University in Fez, Morocco, widely recognized as one of the world’s oldest continuously operating centers of higher learning. I also intend to explore the historic libraries of the Sahara and Sahel, including those of Tichit in Mauritania and Timbuktu in Mali, whose manuscript traditions preserve a remarkable intellectual history. The documentary will also examine the 14th-century pilgrimage of Mansa Musa, ruler of the Mali Empire. His journey to Mecca and the gold he spent in Cairo became part of a wider story about trade, wealth and the economic connections linking Africa and North Africa. By bringing these places and histories together, I hope to show how beauty, knowledge and scientific practice have shaped the Islamic world across centuries.
