About the Space
This bar is right in the heart of Chapel St, created as a nod to the culture of illegal drinking dens set up during America’s prohibition era of the 1920s and early 1930s. The small entrance – the shopfront on Chapel Street is only three metres wide – is a deceptive one. As you move through the space, designed by Eon Architects, a smart dining room, upstairs art deco function room and large beer garden reveal themselves. Our upstairs function room is all Baltic pine floors, high ceilings and classic chandeliers from the 1920s. It’s a clean, open space but full of warmth and yellow light. The venue can also be accessed from a 'secret' laneway off of Commercial Road - another push for the hush-hush undercurrent.
