About the Space

Established in 1891, proudly holds the title of the oldest BBQ restaurant in the United States, celebrating 134 years of serving delicious food in 2025. Our current Irondale location, built in 1969, exudes a nostalgic charm that takes you back in time. The 7,000 square foot space boasts high ceilings and an open kitchen layout, complete with bar seating that offers a front-row view of our 10-foot BBQ pit in action. The walls are a living testament to Golden Rule's rich history, adorned with memorabilia and signed sports treasures. While we cherish our history, we're excited to embark on a remodel that will give the restaurant a fresh facelift while preserving its beloved nostalgic atmosphere. But some things will never change: every visit is met with smiling faces and the unmistakable, mouthwatering aroma of the best BBQ smoke in America.
