Renovated 1903 Arts & Crafts Home -- Cozy & Light-Filled

About the Space

Ours is a comfortable home surrounded by greenery and neighbors with porches. We have a front porch and side, screened-in porch. We renovated our home to update it and add additional woodwork and stained glass. This 1903 F.A. Hill-designed American Foursquare house has a modern kitchen that is the center of the house, with an open space that extends from the living room to the back wall. The kitchen opens to a traditional “keeping room” with a wood-burning fireplace and a table for family card games, or a cozy spot by the fire for reading. Windows open to views of the gardens East, South, and West to bring the outdoors in. The living room has a second wood-burning fireplace. Perfectly matched wood and fretwork, as well as salvaged furnishings, including mantles, glass-pained doors, antique hardware and art glass, result in a seamless blend of late Victorian to Prairie styling, appropriate to the age of this home. The dining room includes an original built in showcasing glassware and a tea cup collection from grandmothers and great aunts. The plate rack holds artwork. Stage with red curtains and toys in the basement media room.
