We rented the space for filming a scene for a short film. Very well lit with lots of ambient light from windows. I loved the brick pattern along one end of the salon. There is also a great little section in the back we used with hair washing basins. Pamela was very professional and friendly, and was always a text away if we had a question or concern. Would love to use the space again!

I was beyond impressed with this space! It was incredibly clean and Diana even went the extra mile to make sure all cords were tucked away (and every photographer knows what an eye sore these can be in photos!). Very reasonable price compared to other salons I came cross and it isn't overly branded so you can really make it your own. There is also a parking lot in the back and big windows at the front!

I've booked a few event spaces since 2021, and Pamela's salon has by far been the best experience I've had overall. She is a phenomenal and friendly host, her space is beautiful, super clean, extremely detailed, and overall a really lovely space. I can't wait to be back

Pamela is absolutely great to work with and her studio is absolutely gorgeous. We used her space as a getting ready space for getting the bride and her bridal party and everyone was in LOVE with the space. It was comfy, spacious, and very instagramable spot. I can’t say enough good things about Pamela as well, she was very good to communicate with and was very flexible. We would love the opportunity to book with her again!

Find Spa spaces in Toronto, Canada

Now, Toronto is one of the biggest and most populous cities in Canada and it's famous for much more than its skyline. If you didn't know, a lot of filming and production takes place in this city. And one of those underrated filming spots? The treatment rooms and steam rooms of a spa! Not that you can't book out and enjoy a spa for a special occasion as well.

Looking to treat your bestie to some body scrubs and water therapies during her pregnancy? Giggster's upscale massage spa with a jacuzzi room might be just the spot for you. It'll give her a much-needed radiant glow before the stresses of parenthood set in. On the other hand, if you're trying to film an advertisement or commercial with a certain old-world charm, a barber shop and salon in Old Toronto might suit you better.

Toronto might not exactly have fancy Turkish baths but it's still full of spas, massage parlors, and nail salons to suit your every need, from events to filming.

Incredible Spas Curated by Giggster

Whether you're looking for the best spa services and body treatments alongside your friends or you're part of a bridal photo shoot while the bride gets ready for her big day, the Giggster app can help you find the ideal location.

  • Create an unforgettable experience at a beauty studio with vanity stations for your friend's birthday party and treat her to a day of pampering.

  • A modern-day spa with a nail salon and a section for foot massages is just as great a spot for filming as it is to set up a pop-up store in the corner.

  • A cozy and relaxing yoga studio with a treatment room and massage space gets plenty of natural light through large windows.

  • A bright Japanese-inspired massage spa with its clean lines and minimalist furniture is perfect for filming a small-budget, independent film.

Top Events for Toronto Spas

Whether it's a small beauty salon with individual vanity stations or a swimming pool and jacuzzi at a luxurious townhouse, you'd be best placed to search on the Giggster app. With as many as venues, we can guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Commercials – Clean Backdrops. Even if you can't stage a photo shoot in the treatment rooms themselves, the particular look of a reception and waiting area in a spa goes a long way. Make use of the excellent lighting and clean surfaces and get your pictures without any hassle.

Film Shoots – Authentic Settings. Does your movie have a scene of your protagonist getting a Thai massage and the full spa services? Instead of trying to recreate the scene in a film studio, why not film it at an actual spa with an actual masseuse? It'll lend a very genuine edge to your film.

Pop-Ups – High Footfall. Retail stores, salons, and spas are excellent places to set up a pop-up store in one corner, with permission of course. When you've got a high footfall of people looking to treat themselves, they're much more likely to take a look at what you're selling. Just make sure you're not competing with the venue for their spa services!

Baby Showers – Pamper Mom-to-be. From an infrared sauna for better sleep and relaxation to a hot Epsom salt pool for relieving stress, a pregnant woman can certainly benefit from a good spa day. Instead of taking her out and exhausting her, treat her to something she really needs for her baby shower.

Product Launches – Gather Your Target Audience. Trying to promote your healthy eucalyptus oil for eucalyptus steam rooms or a certain kind of hair product? Hosting your event at a spa and salon certainly adds to the atmosphere and might tempt your guests to take your products home and try them themselves.

Toronto Spa Locations Must-Haves

While there are always a variety of options, there are some things that you really must keep your eye on when considering a spa to rent out.

What kind of ambiance does it have? It should be soothing and serene. Too much clutter and products can disturb your peace and well-being. Does the relaxation lounge actually have a relaxing atmosphere?

How accessible is it? Unlike spas in big hotels, which are meant just for hotel guests, these venues should be able to handle walk-ins and reservations. Is there enough space for everyone that you have in mind? Is there wheelchair access for someone who is disabled?

What amenities does it have? Does the spa have everything it lists out on its treatment menu? Are there enough body wraps and massage chairs for all customers?

Pros and Cons of Events at Toronto Spas

While spas and salons seem like unique venues for an event or filming, there are quite a few downsides that come with them.

Advantages

  • There's no doubt that spa treatments are beneficial to your health, nerves, and skin. Plus, the pampered feeling itself is a big pro.

  • Leave aside spas at hotels like Hazelton Hotel and the Ritz Carlton—it's hardly the most expensive treat that you can provide your friends with.

  • It's much easier to arrange a day of relaxation at a spa where other people take care of everything rather than trying to set up such a day at home!

Disadvantages

  • While we absolutely understand the need for self-care during the holidays, that's a busy time of year. Unless you've booked plenty in advance, a spa may not always be readily available for event purposes.

  • Filming in spas can come with its own challenges and restrictions, from needing permits to not having proper lighting as compared to studios.

  • It's definitely not the most private of event spaces. After all, there's a whole bunch of people around to listen to you and your guests talk.

How to Plan a Spa Event in Toronto

Trying to film a spa session for a commercial or a music video, or host a private event in the salon? There's so much prep that needs to go into shooting on location. But a personal touch is much better than handing the details off to someone else to manage.

Plan Out the Budget First of all, if you're trying to make the most of your money, then it's best to come up with a budget straight off the bat and stick to it. That might mean no indulging in the spa packages even though you're right there!

Visualize Your Shots Consider factors such as the presence of sunlight or artificial light, how many people are in the frame, and what angles to get the pictures from. You can't head to the location and think that it's just going to work itself out. If you've got a clear set of pictures in your mind, you can take the pictures or get your photographer to take the pictures much quicker.

Put Actors and Photographers at Ease You're shooting at a spa which means everyone should look relaxed and happy. But it's also a very intimate kind of shoot. Communicate clearly with your cast and crew and make sure everyone is comfortable. Keep cell phones away so they don't distract!

Handle the Logistics From getting permits and licenses as needed to setting up a water and juice bar at the corner so your cast and crew don't get dehydrated, there's a lot to take care of for even a day of shooting. Having a to-do list definitely helps.

How to Save Money on a Spa Rental in Toronto

Looking to book a spa experience to rejuvenate your body or your spirits or to film your independent film in a rather unique setting? Let's look at some small ways we can reduce your expenses!

Don't splurge on lighting.

Spas and beauty salons come equipped with a lot of bright and accent lighting. Make use of the existing lighting wherever possible and don't waste time and money buying or renting extra lighting equipment.

Take advantage of deals.

If you're thinking of treating yourself and your friends, look up treatment menus ahead of time and work out the best deals that you can. Spas are often willing to give discounts to repeat customers so you can take advantage of that.

Choose a less popular time.

The middle of the afternoon on a weekend is a horrible time to book a spa session! Everyone wants to go. It's best to schedule for weekdays instead when most people are busy with work.

Book a Spa with Giggster

Looking for actual spa treatments and hydrotherapy facilities for a relaxing afternoon with your best friends or just need to get a couple of photographs of a massage parlor with all its equipment? Don't worry—Giggster can provide you with plenty of venues for either scenario!
