About the Space

A 24 acre "inland-island" conveniently located 15 miles south of Tallahassee, Florida and about 15 miles inland from the Gulf Coast. We call it an island because it is buffered from neighbors on all sides by wooded areas but conveniently located less than a mile from the main highway, shopping and restaurants in the main town of Crawfordville. It is accessible from two roads. The two roads can accommodate large trucks that can easily turn around on the property. There is room for lots of parking available on site. The property is zoned as a mix of residential on one side and light industrial on the main parcel. There are a variety of interesting spaces on the property which include: large grassy landscaped areas with live oak trees and spanish moss, pine trees and wooded areas, but also industrial spaces such as a 15,000 square foot quonset hut and other industrial buildings. There is also a ~5 acre wetlands/swamp with cypress trees and knees, pine trees, and old hardwood natural growth on the property. The wetlands are sometimes dry and sometimes full of water but rimmed by a nature trail and separated from the main property by a wooded area. The nature trail is lined by palmettos, pines, vines, moss, and mushroom covered stumps and logs. There are also 4 other large utility buildings besides the quonset hut, one being a 24' x 40' Art Studio with AC/Heat, and there is a completely functional paint (spray booth) for cars or art and a covered lean-to area. There are two functional automotive lifts, one inside the quonset hut and one outside. Working compressed air lines run throughout the facility and there is a variety of industrial equipment available. The property has wi-fi, electricity and AC in some of the office spaces and in the house. One of the buildings has a useable ~ 35' x 18' outdoor fenced concrete pool that is kept clean and chemically balanced. The facility has office equipment such as scanners and computing equipment as well as pro-panels for displays and some small event tents. Additionally, there is an outdoor covered area around a courtyard in between the buildings. The covered area has a mix of metal and wood shelves and tables and a mix of flourescent and LED utility lights. The buildings are older and look visibly 'run down' and occasionally vine covered. The concrete courtyard has cracks and is weathered. There are two houses on the property - one is a concrete block house which is currently being used for a business and the other is a single story brick house which the hosts are currently living in. The property has wonderful characteristics such as fields of dew covered spider webs in the morning. Weathered wooden fences throughout and foggy mornings. Early morning and late afternoon sun casts unique shadows and beautiful long illuminated slivers of light in the buildings. The quonset hut has wonderful echo and squeaky vents/fans that purr along on a breezy day. The property was previously used as a restoration facility for automobiles and used to have a junkyard on it. The cars and large items have been removed, but some of the grounds still have odd pieces of junk, broken glass or metal present - though it is always in a process of being cleaned more. At present, the only bathroom facilities are located in 2 houses on the property both of which are being occupied, so large productions or events would need to bring extra portable facilities.
