Our home is a unique, private, custom retreat only 18 miles west of downtown Chicago with easy access to both airports. Built in 2008, this Architect/owner designed modern, true heavy timber-frame structure with separate guesthouse incorporates a contemporary loft-like character with the warmth of real wood structure with finishes in Douglas Fir, White Oak and Cherry . An open floor plan, with strategically designed site lines incorporates 10 foot ceilings on the first floor with a bridge and Great Room vaulted ceiling soaring to 20+ feet tall. Abundant natural daylight along with custom designed lighting at night highlights structural elements, rift and quarter-sawn white oak flooring, soapstone countertops and cherry custom cabinets.
