Please Contact The Host for Custom Rates. 7 minutes from downtown on 3 acres With a foundation dating to 1818, this mansion captures Historical Nashville perfectly with authenticity and character while including all the amenities modern life requires. 12 foot ceilings with pocket doors and hardwood floors throughout. Understand this place is set up for comfort. If you’re looking for luxury accommodations I would look somewhere else. While we have taken great work to restore the inside, it is still a work in progress. The third floor lounge is NOT included in the booking unless we speak about it. There is an additional nightly charge. A security deposit may be required. I stay up there sometimes when this space isnt booked The homesite of the Joy Plantation land during the 19th century, this was the home of 1812 General William Whites' favorite daughter. After the war, White was given 200 acres. He commissioned the original foundation in 1818. A single room with a cellar for his favorite daughter. White was shot famously in a duel over who would become Nashville's post master general by Sam Houston, the founder of Houston, Texas. Although White survived the gunshot, he lived in pain for the rest of his life. Houston frequently expressed regret for shooting white until his death bed. General Whites' grave is marked on the adjacent property. White sold a hundred acres to the Lischey Floral company, and thus the farm began. The Lischey family, while successful, was unable to compete in the violet market and sold their business to Tom S. Joy in 1850. Under Tom Joy's direction, the business flourished. The business expanded rapidly and the Joy's quickly became the largest violet producer in the US. At the height of their floral empire, the Joy family owned greenhouses up and down the east coast and all the way to Memphis. Tom Joy, Jr. added the large mansion to the homested in 1890 In the 20th century the Joy family sold the farmstead to The family from Germany. They are currently the 2nd largest producer of African violets in the world. This industrial like farm is located behind the Mansion. Host of several music videos from Nashvilles' best. The Black Keys, Comedy Central, Luke Bryan, Brett Eldredge, Paramore and more have all been through here and left their mark and their own story. You can catch the videos they did here on youtube. Catch a sun set over the trees on the West facing country porch. Enjoy a quiet tranquil backyard with the faint sounds of a bustling downtown in the far distance. Build a fire in the outdoor fireplace. Enjoy the stars and the peeper frogs. Turn on the outdoor lights and have a drink by the fireplace and enjoy the cool Nashville air. My home is nicely furnished and you'll find it quite cozy.
