The island is a 12 hectare sanctuary in the Kerikeri Inlet and is a short 12km drive north east of Kerikeri, in the stunning Bay of Islands. A causeway links the island to the mainland, providing convenient vehicle access. It is a natural haven with a wide diversity of New Zealand plants and birds including the rare North Island Brown Kiwi. Visitors can come by day or stay for a night or two and have the chance to see kiwi in their natural habitat. There is lots to do while here – stroll, take a picnic or a swim on the inlet beach, take a bush walk, watch the many bush and shore birds that frequent the island or just enjoy the peace and tranquility of the natural environment. We offer a range of accommodation including our inlet view Aroha Kiwi Holiday Home a bush cottage Aroha Tui Cottage, 2 Glamping tents and our fabulous beach or bush campgrounds. Our Eco Centre is open daily and full of interesting information and resources about the natural and cultural history of this unique place.
