About the Space
Nestled on over an acre of secluded, multi-level terrain in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains, this property offers a rare mix of rustic Americana, mid-century ranch architecture, and logistics-heavy infrastructure. The 2,000+ sq. ft. house is versatile filming backdrop. The house has served as a location for feature films, short films, television, advertising, and magazine fashion editorial shoots. Key Production Features Multi-Level Visual Interest: The property is tiered into four distinct levels: Level 1: Modest orchard/garden and children's play structure (perfect for "rural" or "farmhouse" exteriors or for staging/craft setup). Level 2: The Main House (2,000+ sq ft, 3 bed/2bath, detached 2-car garage). Level 3: A small barn and storage shed (ideal for "gritty" or "industrial" looks). Level 4: A terraced slope with panoramic views, perfect for sunset "golden hour" shots. The "Anywhere America" Aesthetic: The 1962 ranch architecture features hardwood floors, exposed beams, and a large fireplace—easily passing for the Midwest, the Pacific Northwest, or a mountain retreat. Logistics & Accessibility Scout’s Note: This property sits under LA County jurisdiction, not the City of Calabasas. This typically means a more streamlined permitting process through FilmLA. Parking & Load-in: Gated circular driveway with an uphill slope. Ample room for 10-15 vehicles on-site; easy street access for larger truck staging nearby. Acoustics: Rated a 9.7/10 Silent Zone. Virtually no ambient noise, making it a dream for sync-sound dialogue. Animal Friendly: Fully fenced and secure, capable of hosting animal actors (horses, dogs, etc.). Connectivity: High-speed internet available (rare for this deep in the canyon). Ideal For: Narrative Film/TV: Family dramas, "hidden" retreats, or rural thriller setups. Commercials: Outdoor lifestyle brands, automotive (scenic drive access), and home goods. Editorial: High-fashion "rustic" shoots and lifestyle photography. Tech Specs Main House: 3 Bed / 2 Bath (Approx. 2,076 sq. ft.) Total Acreage: 1.13 Acres Power: 200-amp service; multiple exterior outlets. Proximity: 15 mins to Calabasas Commons / 15 mins to Malibu beaches.

This house is incredible to shoot at. Van made everything so easy and was incredibly accommodating. A great house for large budget shoots, but also great for smaller budgets as the interior of the home comes full set decorated. Also, if you're going for a "small town" vibe, this home is perfect as there is no palm trees / very few homes in the surrounding areas. Would recommend this location to everyone!!!
