Stone Crusher Estate is a private family home located in Hawi, North Kohala, an hour from the Kona airport. Two full homes, with a total of 8 bedrooms and 6 full baths. Each home has generous lanai spaces, allowing indoor/outdoor living with ocean and Maui views from one home and groomed lawns, gardens and 100-year-old trees from the other. The homes were designed in a style that echoes elements of traditional rural Japanese architecture which are also often found in modern Hawaiian architecture. Lots of wood, large veranda or lanai surrounding the home and joining living and sleeping elements, siting with relationship to the natural environment, sliding pocket doors. Central great rooms in each house open to the wrap around lanai that connects four bedrooms per house located in separate pods. Additional structures include a gazebo in the garden and a separate studio for yoga, dance, or exercise. And above the six-stall carport is an office. Only about three of the ten acres are developed. Portions of the property are in accessible gulches, which pre-contact Hawaiians considered the best areas for planting. The name of the road "Stone Crusher" is a reference to more recent plantation-era history in which the property was a stone quarry. ***NOTE: Furnishings are pictured differently than the furnishings now found on the property***
