This area is known for its prominent museums, among them the renowned Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and close by La Brea Tar Pits and its fossils. Constructed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, is devoted to the history, science, and cultural impact of the film industry. It is the first large-scale museum of its kind in the United States. Also nearby is the sleek Peterson Automotive Museum for lovers of cars & design. Boutique shopping and yummy food are in close proximity, with the diverse cuisine of the Little Ethiopia stretch on Fairfax Avenue or Pico Boulevard with its taquerias and soul-food cafes moments away.
