About the Space

Our Mansion is a grand, exuberantly designed Victorian which was constructed in 1889. The house is an eclectic mix of Queen Anne, Eastlake, and North Coast Stick styles. It has a great Victorian vibe with some fabulous period details and many fine antique furnishings. It makes a great setting for romantic shots or or for filming something mysterious. The house has already been used to film portions of the show called The Craftsman which will air on the Magnolia Network in January of 2022. The most notable historic features of the Monroe Mansion are: Box-bay and angle-bay windows, a massive stained glass window in the grand staircase chamber, really tall windows, intricate glazed exterior doors, 12.5 high ceilings, wide plank old growth redwood floors, plaster medallions & corbels, four fireplace mantles, rare curly redwood panelling, all antique light fixtures, marble bathrooms, and very impressive pocket doors. It's furnished with some great antiques from France, England and America. Ornate picture frames are hung from picture rails, there are three huge oil portraits and a marble bust from the mid 1800s. The dining room has an enormous table with lots of china and vintage serving pieces available for use. The drawing room has a big beautiful wooden fireplace mantle with a functional iron maiden. It also has a glass bookcase with tons of lovely old books and other vintage props. The views out the front windows look across the street to a lovely private park with huge trees and two Victorian homes. The views out the side windows are to another large old home which is in need of renovation. It is an imposing structure at thirty feet from the ground to the eaves and having just under 4,000 sqft. of floorspace. The entire property is completely secured with a locking 8' iron fence. The back yard is a parking area which can accommodate a trailer and/or several vehicles. The home is nearly completely renovated, we live in it and also run the back part of it as an Airbnb. Here are the things that we have yet to complete in this renovation: The landscaping is not done.There are still sections of the house which are not yet painted. There are still a few places in the house where the restoration of woodwork is not complete. The dining room floor still needs refinishing. The stained glass window on the landing of the staircase still needs restoring.
