This award-winning 1,400-square-foot studio features an open workspace, a kitchen, lounge and a bedroom/conference room flex space. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the studio frames a courtyard with views of the St. Johns Bridge, Willamette River, and West Hills. A vaulted ceiling rises to a height of 16 feet, giving the space an airy feel perfect for photoshoots, meetings, or creative brainstorms. The house was a serendipitous collaboration between the designer-owners, architect, and builder that boasts high-quality materials including metal tile roofs, concrete countertops, and custom metalwork. The interiors use maple paneling and hidden cabinets to emphasize the essential elements of materiality, fine detailing, and durability to the spaces while minimizing clutter and distraction. The eye-catching and iconic, large glazed monitors are utilized throughout to bring in natural light. The landscape was designed by an award winning landscape designer to blur the line between the landscape and the natural space of the Baltimore woods below. Concrete courts and planters filter rainwater before returning it back to the landscape and are filled with dramatic yet low-maintenance plantings that respond to each season of the year.
