About the Space
Tucked into a beautifully converted 1894 Victorian home on a quiet street in Southwest Detroit's Hubbard Farms neighborhood, our location is an intimate all-day cafe and bakery that has quickly become one of the city's most celebrated spaces. Vogue recently called it "extra charming" in their sweeping Detroit city guide — high praise in a roundup covering the very best of one of America's most exciting and creatively vibrant food cities. With just 28 seats and a warm Belgian farmhouse aesthetic, the space feels like a genuine discovery. Two historic structures — a 19th-century house and an adjacent retail space — were thoughtfully combined into a single cohesive venue. Inside, guests find light, earthy textures, natural materials, exposed wood, and a residential warmth that is nearly impossible to replicate in purpose-built commercial spaces. The historic bones of the building give every room a lived-in authenticity, with softly layered details and a sense of quiet intention throughout. Whether you're looking down a hallway, framing a table by the window, or shooting the cafe bar, every angle has something to offer. The kitchen and cafe bar are fully operational and can be incorporated into your booking. The menu — developed by chef Lou Hammer — centers on seasonal, high-quality ingredients with a strong vegetarian and vegan offering, giving you flexible catering options for a wide range of events and productions. We serve coffee roasted by our sister cafe, who roasts their own beans nearby and supplies both locations. The space is well-suited for editorial photo shoots, film and video productions, intimate private dining events, brand activations, product launches, and creative off-sites. Its compact footprint makes it ideal for productions that want a fully controlled, visually rich environment — intimate by design, with no cavernous echo or wasted space. The quiet residential street keeps outside noise to a minimum, a significant advantage for productions requiring clean audio. We are located close to Mexicantown in Southwest Detroit's growing creative and hospitality corridor. Street access is easy and the neighborhood offers a genuinely local Detroit character that is increasingly hard to find. This is not a generic event space — it is a working cafe with a real identity, and that identity translates directly onto screen and in print.
