About the Space
This historic property was built in 1850 and remains the oldest standing wooden hotel in Bruce and Grey Counties, as well as the oldest building in Kincardine, Ontario. Owned by only two families over its long history, the property operated as an inn and tavern for more than a century. Following a devastating fire in 1995, a local heritage society (established in 1998) was formed to restore and preserve this important historic landmark. Today, the property features a variety of unique and welcoming spaces available to the public. These include a historic tavern and bar room designed to resemble an authentic 1850s tavern; a large open room well suited for workshops, art classes, presentations, meetings, and other gatherings; and a dining room that connects to both historic and modern kitchen facilities, allowing for food preparation for social events. An attached patio area is also available for events that benefit from outdoor space. The property is situated directly across from a historic lighthouse and is just a short walk from the beach and harbour, making it a truly unique setting and an ideal location for photography and filming opportunities.
