About the Space

Bonnie Brook Farm was built in 1791 with 16 acres of farmland, woods, streams, pond, river, lawn, and long gravel driveway. The main house is a stone house with 6 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 6 fireplaces, modern farm house kitchen, wood floors, and great light. We have a carriage house aka barn that is under renovation. There is a pool house that will be updated during the Fall of 2021. A guest house that will be renovated late Winter 2022. There is a mid-century modern inspired pool that was updated in the Summer 2021. We are also preparing a portion of the property to grow ornamental boxwood. The river is fully accessible at the rear of the property. There is a large pond and stream. We have a long gravel driveway. We are creating a rustic outdoor cooking space together with a open fire rotisserie. The property is being updated in various. The property has lots of character. The original owner, Peter Wintermute, fought during the Revolutionary War. The second owner, Martin R. Dennis, was a wealthy businessman that may have fought during the Civil War. The property was originally a fulling mill during the 1700s. The property eventually became a stock farm that had prized cattle, ducks and sheep. The house is located in a beautiful old town in Sussex County. There is lots of wildlife in the area like bears, herons, bobcats, eagles, snakes, turtles, trout and more. This is a real gem! Things to consider: -Clean up and removing all trash must be taken with you when you leave (some exceptions will apply) -This is a 200+ year old house, using good judgement and care is imperative and appreciated -We are updating the entire property in phases. The main house is completely ready. -If this is a photo shoot, please coordinate to have a portable rest room brought to the shoot. If we have one on site, we will allow you to use it. In some cases, we can allow the use of the bathrooms, but it must be done with written consent. -Use of electric will be considered on every request, but we encourage you to bring a generator. -Regarding the catering, we will make this decision per request, but we are encouraging you to use the services of our amazing community. We are happy to guide you through this process. -If you need plants for your shoot or event, we own a full service indoor and outdoor garden center. We are happy to provide you a quote for these services. -If permits are required for filming and/or your event, it will be the responsibility of your organization to obtain all necessary permits. -We will require you to produce both General Liability and Workman's comp insurance for your use of the property. -We will do whatever we can to accommodate your event and have flexibility on our rules. Just ask and we will consider it.
