About the Space
This generous 100 year old stone house exhibits a unique old-world feel, featuring a fireplace and original beams. Full kitchen, large windows, high ceilings and access to bathrooms makes this a perfect location for filming, photography and events. The pricing is for either the living room/dining room OR the French Bedroom - if you wish to use both there are additional fees. The house is set in the middle of a 13 acre property in the Topanga mountains, far from the road and is surrounded by oak trees, creeks and nature. A large attached holding space with power is available for additional fees. Only 15 minutes from Santa Monica, Malibu and the Valley, it feels like you are far off in the mountains. The main stone house and fireplace is over 100 years old. In addition to shooting the interior of the cottage the surrounding 13 acres of nature is available to add also, providing endless possibilities. The Stone house which was built in 1914 and features a large stone fireplace and natural clay walls. Several additions were added over the years which we have converted into themed bedrooms. These are: The French Quarters decorated in French style with a claw-foot bathtub and small stone fireplace, The Mermaid Suite with a mermaid mural and nautical theme. The Hacienda Hideaway features a southwest adobe look and the Creative suite is a more conventional apartment. Connected to the Stone House is the French Quarters: This charming apartment is decorated in French style. It features a comfortable king size bed, lovely decorative stone fireplace, beautiful antique dining table and a large couch which can sleep an extra person. The private bathroom features a claw foot bathtub and separate shower. There is a small fridge to keep your food items. If you would like to cook, there is a fully stocked kitchen next door in our main house that is available to you anytime. The French Quarters is a lovely mix of antique and modern, nestled in the mountains with surrounding lush woodlands, creeks, and nearby hiking trails. There is a beautiful view of the canyon in the daytime and an abundance of stars at night. The property has lots of parking. There are over 100 oak trees with sculpted rock streams covered with a total canopy of green. If you need a rustic and forested location this is the place. We have had directors rewrite their scripts because they fell in love with this place. Levi's-global shot here - their directive was to find a place that could be anywhere in the planet and they said this property fit that description perfectly. We have hosted many film and photo shoots here and always do our best to help them have a successful shoot.

I've filmed here two times, and it's a solid location. The forest setting offers a great natural backdrop, and the addition of wooden cabins provides more variety for different types of shoots. The site is well set up for productions, with equipment like generators available for rent, which is convenient. Overall, it's a well-established filming spot that’s been easy to work with. Worth considering for outdoor shoots.

This was a beautiful location to shoot a short film, the interior building is unique and there's enough room to set up equipment. The surrounding environment is also breathtaking and there's a nearby creek that's nice to walk around. There was some issues with sound as there was work being done on the adjoined properties but other than it was a wonderful place to shoot!

Our company, Experience Elemental, launched our nature and forest therapy retreats here. The property is magical, the hillside is so beautiful and there are countless areas to explore throughout the grounds. It's quiet, but easy to get to from all over LA, and the nature makes it feel like you're totally out of the city life. There's ample parking, and the structures are clean and welcoming, with several different buildings and areas to suit your needs. We intend to book with David again. He is helpful, friendly, and responsive. Highly recommend.

This place was awesome! It had great exterior locations for filming a short film. The interiors of the buildings were all so unique and would be perfect filming or photography locations as well. David was so nice and welcoming, and helped guide us where we needed to go each morning. I would definitely recommend coming here if you want a great place for your next film shoot!

David and Leah's spot was perfect for our music video shoot -- we had a great time and felt super welcome at the property. David was present to answer any questions we might have and even graciously offered to give us a tour of the entire property. Everything went well for us -- however the only thing I would note is that this is also an airbnb property and upon my crew's arrival there were 3-4 other guests actively using the kitchen and living room area that we rented out and were intending to shoot our music video in. The guests were respectful but definitely hung around longer than we would've liked asking us questions about our project. I was unaware that the space we rented was a shared space until David let me know that there would be some people coming in and out of the stone house kitchen and living room. Within an hour and a half the Airbnb guests cleared out and were no longer a nuisance but in general I think when someone books this listing I think David should tell airbnb guests that they won't have access to the living room and kitchen at the stone house once the production crew arrives (as we paid for that space and needed it for our shoot). I think there was probably just an overlap of an hour or two... but either way I think that's something in the future that could be laid out more clearly for a potential renter as well as a potential airbnb guest! As far as shooting video goes -- having random people around slowing down production down on an already jam packed day isn't ideal. This is really the only complaint I had of the property -- besides that we had an exceptional time and would definitely book with David and Leah again.

This set is one of the favorites that I have worked on in California. With a bit of a drive and some rough roads, it's a great spot for people to film any kind of cabin "in the woods" type scene. The owner is super nice and helps out with any additional info needed.
