Host is friendly and responsive. Check in is easy. Private parking is available. Space has cool lighting for videography needs. Has a green room. Only downside is bathrooms are on the 1st floor and the space was on the 10th I believe. But all in all we enjoyed the space and the ambiance.

beautiful space with great light and lots of options of angles for an editorial photoshoot. The studio is a little smaller than in the pictures but it's plenty big enough for a team of 7 which included 2 model on set. Check-in was seamless and Derek was very responsive to messages.

Top Events for Riverside Venues

It doesn't matter if it's a networking event, a concert, a birthday soiree, or a wedding reception—riverside venues can make any special event unforgettable. If you’ve found a good spot by the river, here are some of the best events you might want to hold there:

  • Weddings – A Romantic Affair. Tie the knot with the soothing sound of the river Thames in the background and stay in a Georgian manor house for a few days for your honeymoon. Guests will feel like VIPs and the couple like a real-life prince and princess dancing in a peaceful formal garden.

  • Social Gatherings – Celebrate in Nature. Cocktail parties, birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, tea parties—you name it. Any event looks amazing in a riverside venue. You don’t have to prepare any fancy decorations because the panoramic views, lots of natural light, and glorious nature are enough to create the ideal atmosphere for your unique celebration.

  • Festivals and Markets – Anything Cultural. Many places near the river in the UK are spacious, full of greenery, and have even grounds where you can set up food stalls and a stage for live music and other performances. Families can enjoy a day out in the fresh air and kids can run around the area.

  • Corporate Events – Where Business Meets Bliss. Who says business meetings or company-related events should only take place in an office or conference centre? UK’s top riverside venues offer a nice change of pace, where you’ll feel relaxed and inspired. You can also plan team-building activities like paddleboarding, kayaking, or simply picnicking by the river with stunning views.

  • Retreats – For Serene Escapes. Need a serene escape from all the hustle and bustle? A riverside retreat might be exactly what you need. Gather your colleagues for a casual get-together or invite your mates to a yoga session by the edge of the water.

Riverside Location Must-Haves

Not all riverside venues are the same, so establish early on what you're looking for, including your needs and expectations, to avoid disappointment. If you're on the hunt for the best waterfront space, but don't know where to start your search, don't worry. We'll give you a few ideas on things that can make or break your event.

How’s the view? You want to host an event or have a shoot outside because of the view or you want a nice change of environment, so what’s the point of booking a venue along the river if all you see is a bunch of other people or a concrete jungle? It defeats the purpose of a “scenic escape.”

Is there enough space? You must have enough room for your guest list and everything you want to do there. For example, if you need a dance floor, a stage, or your plan to build an obstacle course, it should accommodate them comfortably without feeling cramped.

What’s the plan for when the weather turns sour? British weather is unpredictable, so even if you want to throw a summer soiree, you must have a backup plan in case Mother Nature has a different plan.

Pros and Cons of Events at Riverside Venues

The pleasant atmosphere, natural beauty, and a breath of fresh air—there are many things to love about a riverside event. But like other venues, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, so instead of ignoring the bad, you should acknowledge and prepare for them to cover all your bases.

Advantages

  • The sound of the flowing water, cool breeze, and natural light all create a chill and relaxed atmosphere that guests will love. It’s a fantastic escape from the crowd and the busy city life.

  • Many sought-after riverside spaces in cities in the UK, such as in London, are close to iconic landmarks like the London Eye and the majestic Tower Bridge, so you and your guests can explore and get busy during your downtime.

  • No more boring backdrops with gorgeous nature as your background for photos and videos.

Disadvantages

  • Since riverside events are likely outdoors, you’ll be at the mercy of the weather. Wind, rain, and extreme heat can put a damper on your celebration.

  • Some riverside locations are not easy to get to because of limited parking, difficult terrain, and a long walk from the parking area, which can be a hassle for those with mobility issues.

  • It’s a bit challenging to get everything you need to a riverside area. It might take a long time to set up chairs and tables, catering, and other equipment necessary for the party.

How to Plan an Event at a Riverside Venue

Throwing an event right by the river is not a new thing, but if it's your first time planning a gathering in this unique location, be prepared for anything. Don't worry—we created a list of what you can do to make it work and ensure your event goes off without a hitch.

Pick Your Vibe – What kind of event do you have in mind and what experience do you want your guests to have? Is a romantic wedding ceremony filled with wildflowers, a festive birthday bash, or something else? The vibe and overall look you want to create can influence many elements of your planning process.

Choose the Best Spot – You don’t have to go out there to find riverside venues. Just use the Giggster app to check out your options in your area, look at the pictures, compare prices, and book the space within minutes.

Have a Budget Breakdown – Sometimes, it’s not about how much you have but what you do with what you have. Understand where every penny goes to help you make smart choices. Focus on your non-negotiables and worry about the good-to-have items if you have extra money.

Plan for the Logistics – It’s the nitty gritty or the behind-the-scenes stuff that needs your attention so that everything runs smoothly. These may include the timeline, transportation, permits, and seating arrangements.

How to Save Money on a Riverside Venue Rental

Do you dream of an epic riverside bash but don’t want to break the bank? We’ll help you make that happen with our money-saving tips.

Can you pick an off-season date?

Schedule your event on a weekday or during the off-season when rental rates are significantly lower than peak dates. It means skipping summer weekends or the holidays and going for winter celebrations by the river, which can be magical and budget-friendly.

Do you have to party for hours?

Some venues charge by the hour, so if you shorten your party, even by just a few hours, you could save a lot of money. It all comes down to how organise the event is and ensuring guests arrive on time.

Have you tried DIY decorations?

If you haven’t yet, then it’s time to get crafty and roll up your sleeves instead of hiring a professional decorator. One of the things we love about outdoor riverside spaces is that you don’t need to spend a fortune to decorate them—natural elements like branches and flowers will do, and throw in some fabrics.
