After nearly 20 years working with customers in both B2C and B2B relationships to achieve success in sales and growth, Monique Cherrie decided to make a change and launch her own business. After a trip abroad with her family she became intrigued with the notion of pop up shops and the way they enable any size business to instantly achieve exposure, experiment with new branding, or just engage directly with their existing customers. Since the beginning of 2016 she has been the driving force behind MakeshiftSpaces. With her experience in event management she has hosted art galleries, pop up shops and markets, as well as hosting events for international tourism, motivational speakers, and fashion designers. In 2019, Monique opened her newest adventure, a coworking space in Strathcona. "I think that coworking is an interesting business. There are many spaces available in today's market, and we all have a little something different to offer.

I love Monique! Always takes her time to make sure everything goes well, even if she's on vacation! She is very patient and the space is amazing. She was responsive and responsible as she always made sure that everything was ready before the day of and got any other equipment that was needed. She has a lovely personality, and it was amazing to work with her. Thanks so much Monique! :)

I lied. The pictures do NOT do the space JUSTICE. :) :) :) Monique has one of the most heart-centered, state of the art, event spaces in Vancouver. She went above and beyond her call of duty (even providing complementary brunch) to ensure that our event was a hit- AND IT WAS JUST THAT!!! We will be back and we will be sharing this with our community of entrepreneurs and businessmen and women for years to come! Thanks Mo!

"Monique is AWESOME. I love her energy, enthusiasm, and her willingness to help in every way for the success of my event. The venue itself is very beautiful, fresh, and clean. It is a blank canvas waiting for someone to paint it with new colors. I held my Alice in Wonderland themed event here and was very appreciative that I was allowed to hang my decor on the walls. The stringed lights that she helped put up really added that extra WOW factor to the space. We did have some technical difficulties throughout the evening, but I'm sure it's some that's easily fixable. Delivery of large rental items was difficult as well because parking was limited and the loading zone is very out of the way. Other than that, I would definitely hold future events at Makeshift Spaces.

This turned out to be the perfect space for our Find Your Happy speakers event. This is a centrally-located flex space that is easy to transform into whatever you need it to be. And Monique is an absolute joy to work with. She is easy to reach, quick to respond and willing to help in any way she can. We were thrilled with the way our event turned out and Makeshift Spaces had a lot to do with that.
