About the Space

Woodie is a woodworking workshop and showroom that sit next to a magical, waterfront property that is nestled within the confines of a private gated estate on a wooded peninsula in West Sussex. This picturesque location was built in the aftermath of World War II. In those post-war years, when building materials were scarce, this remarkable dwelling and the Workshop were built with whatever materials could be scavenged. Like the main house, Woodie is clad in Cedar tiles but has a striking corrugated iron roof. The interior of the woodworking studio is a sensory feast that envelops you in the world of woodcraft. The space is richly adorned with tools and wood elements, buzzing with activity, and showcases a treasure trove of past projects suspended from the ceiling. The showroom next door has an altogether sleeker, serene air, it provides a lovely juxtaposition to the busyness and hubbub of the workshop. The lush Oak woodland that envelops Woodie has been lovingly preserved in a state of wild grace, a tribute to the deep respect for the land that permeates this tranquil place. There are a multitude of unique features to discover within the enchanting garden. Through the canopy of ancient trees, the waterfront beckons, offering heavenly vistas. A splendid wood-hulled yacht, gracefully moored alongside a lengthy jetty, extends its invitation into the serene waters of the Bosham Channel. Throughout the garden, one encounters numerous hidden gems and designated shoot areas; a quaint Boat house with a cosy seating area, a beautifully weathered Caravan, a rustic log-cutting area, a charming camper van, gnarled and venerable Apple trees and even a vintage Ice Cream cart. There is parking for several vehicles available on the drive. The house is under a two hour drive from London and is easily accessible via the A3 and A27.
