About the Space

Designed and consecrated in 1880, the church was originally conceived as both a chapel and civic hall. Over the following century, the building weathered continual change, sustaining bombing during the Blitz and a devastating fire in 1989 with the exposed bricks still marked by smoke and flame to this day. In 2025, the church underwent a comprehensive renovation, featuring a bespoke interior by Jermaine Gallacher. Alongside this, the building was upgraded with new lighting throughout, a modern fire and security system, and fully renewed plumbing — carefully balancing contemporary functionality with its historic character. The church features original Victorian brickwork throughout, abundant natural light on the first floor and pink-hued natural lighting on the ground floor. It offers generous proportions, with 3.4m high ceilings on the ground floor (1300 sq ft) and a striking 9m vaulted gable ceiling on the first floor (1700 sq ft) creating an acoustically distinctive environment. The venue is supported by an experienced in-house team, high-speed Wi-Fi, and basic kitchen facilities including a fridge. The space is well suited to a range of uses, including photoshoots, filming, fashion shows, creative showcases, and cultural events. The space also accommodates conferences, lectures, and meetings, offering a flexible environment that can adapt to both creative and professional needs. The church is an active place of worship. All hires must be compatible with the character and use of the building.
