About the Space

Hawks Nest Ranch is a gorgeous 3 year old Mid Century Modern/SoCal Mountain "off grid" home perched on a mountainside high above Highland Valley. Designed to be fire-hardened yet blend into the environment like the rich wildlife surrounding it, the house embraces the architectural ethos of seamlessly blending the interior and exterior spaces. Flooded with natural light, interior plants, a clean modern decor sensibility and sight lines that run thru the house, Hawks Nest Ranch lives up to its name as hawks, turkey vultures and other birds float by at eye level within feet of the large rear slider door that overlooks the valley below. Only 3 miles from civilization on San Diego's winery road, but a world away, the quiet is only disturbed by the occasional wandering coyote, cawing crow, hoot of an owl, or screech of a hawk. An open floor plan "great room" is at the heart of the house and all bedrooms, bathrooms, home gym, hot tub and outdoor spaces across our 3.5 acres are available for use. With full solar, battery backup, our own well water and septic system, we are fully off grid capable. Vegetable grow beds and a chicken coop add to our independent sustainability.
