About the Space

A working fencing and archery club. We have everything set up for fencing classes, traditional archery, fitness instruction and a variety of martial arts. We teach both Olympic-style fencing and Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). We have racks of fencing equipment on the walls, wood floors lined out for our activities and a brightly lit (with LED lights) space. The wood floors are a floating floor, so that they are good at cushioning for impact, similar to a dance floor. The equipment racks have swords of various types, shields, spears, bows and more. The ceilings are about 20-23 feet high with exposed beams and insulation. The space is approximately 40 feet wide and 95 feet long. There is a large roll-up door on one side that faces west into the parking lot. Most of the space is very open, with gear and racks on the walls so that we have plenty of room to swing our swords and shoot our arrows safely. There is a small carpeted seating area for observation and an open office space near the front door. In the front windows of the club there is a sort of mural of fencers in dramatic poses. During the weekdays after 9PM the area is empty of anyone until the morning. In the morning there is activity in the building, but the fencing club is empty until 5PM when classes for the evening start. On weekends the club is fairly busy in the mornings, but usually free of activity in the evenings and all night.
