About the Space
A dynamic venue situated in the heart of Bristol operates within a thoughtfully repurposed former department store building. This innovative hub functions as both an arts and sustainability centre, created through collaborative community efforts. Its mission is to foster a greener, fairer, and more creative future by offering visitors opportunities to shop, recycle, and participate in a range of creative and educational activities. The venue is carefully organised into distinct departments, each offering unique spaces available for hire. One standout area is located on the first floor and features versatile creative spaces ideal for performances, exhibitions, workshops, and events. The main area can accommodate up to 400 standing guests, 300 seated, or up to 100 seated in banquet style. For added flexibility, the space can be divided into two smaller sections. It is also well equipped with essential technical amenities, including projectors, audio speakers, and changing rooms, ensuring a seamless setup for a variety of events.

The staff, Nick and Marnie (I believe), were really lovely and helped us to get settled in. They were ready to get anything we needed for our event, although that was very little, as they'd already set up the space exactly as we'd asked, which was great! The space itself leant itself nicely to an event with both sat-down and mingling elements and we even had space for a snack station just next to the "stage". The projector was set up, as was the audio equipment although we decided not to use it, and easy to use. We were also provided with a water dispenser and paper cups which was great for refreshments. Marieta was also very helpful before the event, confirming details and logisitics with us clearly and efficiently. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Sparks!

The next floor above is a vast event space with the potential to host small-scale workshops and indie screenings to full-size industry conferences and festive markets. The team running the space is a pleasure to work with, and we look forward to doing so even more in the near future
