I am the owner of The Retreat, a substantial, unaltered 1859 Victorian manor house located in Buxted. Historically part of the Wedgwood estate, the property retains a wealth of authentic period features. It is highly accessible, situated within walking distance of a direct train line to London, yet completely quiet and surrounded by nature. Key Visual Elements: • The House (Original 1859 features): Historic library with floor-to-ceiling filled bookshelves, a billiards room, four reception rooms with original marble fireplaces and original William Morris curtains, a large apartment-sized attic space, and a large kitchen. I also have a secondary kitchen and pantry in one of the many outbuildings. • The Grounds: 10 acres of organic land, including mature native woodland, wild rewilded meadows, formal gardens, vegetable patch and small vineyard, various brick outbuildings containing all manner of stuff hoarded since the 19th century.
