About the Space
A 1920s inspired cocktail bar is located at the intersection where the once mischievous glittering half mile of Darlinghurst Road met with Sydney's glamorous personality mecca of Macleay Street. The venue's past lives are varied, once home to covert business; an illegal 60s casino and a salacious club and private bookshop, with secret tunnels and spaces to hide away from the eyes of the law. The fit-out pays homage to the building's history and emulates refined and elegant speakeasies from the 1920s — dark green leather booths, private dining spots, exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, marble and brass accents across the split-level bar and an antique vault filled with shiny bottles of KXD gin. The cheeky wall mural of pin up photography is a nod to the former bookstores which existed there. The distillery's 200-litre pot also sits front-and-centre. Fits 100 people all up, with 2 separate bars, distillery, kitchen and an alfresco section fronting onto super-charming Llankelly Place.
