Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler), a socially awkward 31-year-old man who stutters and exhibits some signs of intellectual disabilities, works as the water boy for the University of Louisiana football team. He resides with his overly protective and devoutly religious mother, Helen (Kathy Bates), and holds onto the belief that his father, Robert Sr. (Frank Coraci), passed away from dehydration while on a mission with the Peace Corps in the Sahara during the ‘60s.
