About Suicide Squad

DC Comics' iconic anti-hero team Suicide Squad inspired the 2016 American blockbuster movie of the same name. With a stellar ensemble cast and an impressive lineup of thrilling action sequences, this film will surely captivate viewers with its unique take on the beloved comic book series. David Ayer helmed the production and distribution of "DC Extended Universe (DCEU)", the third installment in this DC Films and Atlas Entertainment-sponsored series. The ensemble cast includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Ike Barinholtz, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Scott Eastwood, Jay Hernandez and Cara Delevingne.

To thwart impending doom, a clandestine government agency makes an offer that supervillains cannot refuse: they will be given leniency in exchange for helping to save the world. The ensuing plot follows these villains as they embark on their heroic mission.

In February 2009, Warner Bros. began developing a Suicide Squad film. Immediately following his hiring in September 2014, David Ayer was tasked with both writing and directing the project; casting soon followed. On April 13, 2015 principal photography commenced in Toronto, Ontario and continued for the next four months in Chicago until August.

On August 1, 2016, New York City put the spotlight on Suicide Squad for its world premiere. The movie earned over $746 million worldwide and became the tenth-highest grossing film of 2016. Despite receiving largely negative reviews from critics, the performances (especially Robbie's), makeup effects, action sequences, and soundtrack were praised. Furthermore, the movie was honored with an Academy Award for its outstanding makeup and hair styling at the 89th Oscars.

Waller then advises Bruce to stop working late nights, subtly implying that she knows he is Batman.
