About Aquaman

The 2018 superhero film "Aquaman" is based on the titular character from DC Comics. This Warner Bros. Pictures production is the sixth installment in the DC Extended Universe. The character of Arthur Curry in the movie Aquaman is played by Jason Momoa and the film was directed by James Wan with a screenplay written by Will Beall and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The plot follows Arthur, the leader of Atlantis, and his struggles to stop his half-brother King Orm from uniting the seven underwater kingdoms and attacking the world above.

Alongside Momoa, the film also features supporting roles played by Willem Dafoe, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, and Dolph Lundgren.

The movie Aquaman first premiered in London in November 2018, and later in December of the same year, it was released in the United States. This success made it the highest-grossing film in the DCEU franchise, the most profitable based on a DC Comics character, and the 20th highest-grossing film of all time.

There is also a new animated miniseries called Aquaman: King of Atlantis that was released from October 14 to October 28, 2021, which takes place after the movie's events. In December 2018, it was reported that Toby Emmerich, the chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, had started working on a sequel for Aquaman. In March of 2021, it was reported by DiscussingFilm that the film was scheduled to begin filming in June of the same year in the UK under the working title of "Necrus." In June of 2021, the title of the sequel movie was revealed to be Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
